Loyalty Layer is a new game-inspired loyalty toolkit that connects fan engagement experiences and motivates fans to keep coming back
London. 12 Feb, 2025, Monterosa announced the launch of Monterosa Loyalty Layer - a highly flexible loyalty solution for sports and media verticals built on a decade of game development.
An addition to its Interaction Cloud engagement platform, Loyalty Layer binds together the suite of Monterosa Experiences with those from third parties, creating a comprehensive loyalty hub to reward fans.
Unlike legacy loyalty solutions, the solution benefits from instantly delivered rewards, badging and a choice of currencies, XP, milestones and challenges.
The platform can be integrated with existing solutions for redemption, eCommerce and OTT platforms, allowing audiences to be rewarded for content consumption, physical attendance and any other action of value.
Experiences supported include predictive gaming, voting, ratings, spin the wheel and consumption of content on third party platforms including streaming/OTT, eCommerce and general content consumption.
Challenges are time-bound or invisible tasks that can encourage multi-step missions, designed to help brand partners reward audiences for taking part in sponsored activities.
Where some rewards systems are prescriptive, Monterosa Loyalty Layer doesn’t force creators to choose whether to reward fans with currency or XP, badges or discount codes. It gives the option to choose any combination of metrics-based or inventory-based rewards, to engage fans in the best way possible.
It also supports a range of rewards such as badges, coins, trophies or discount codes for merchandise or tickets which can be connected into redemption platforms via a simple API.
Monterosa / Interaction Cloud has a range of powerful automation capabilities which the Loyalty Layer will benefit from - from setting challenges, through to rewards redemption will be automatable and interoperable via the Automation/Control API and the Loyalty API.
The Fan Profile is a fun, engaging dashboard space where fans can see their progress and personalise their digital likeness via 3D avatars. Last year, Monterosa announced a partnership with Ready Player Me, to integrate its unique avatar creator and virtual merchandise store into the Monterosa platform. Alternatively, customers can build their own fan profile UI and populate using Monterosa’s APIs.
Tom McDonnell, CEO, Monterosa said: “With competition for attention at an all-time high, encouraging and rewarding habitual usage of digital products is becoming essential. The problem is most loyalty software is old and inspired by retail or airline systems that operate in a different headspace to sport and entertainment. Our approach is inspired by games not banks, with the best gaming mechanics now available quickly and efficiently to plug into the existing tech stack.”
