Monterosa announces Fantasy, with the ECB as launch partner

The England and Wales Cricket Board has adopted Monterosa for Fantasy, Fan Experiences, Loyalty and Community. The brand new The Hundred Fantasy Game is now live, powered by the Monterosa platform and insights engine.

Jul 2026: Monterosa, the fantech company powering engagement for sport's most active digital audiences, today launches Fantasy: an embeddable fantasy format that completes its platform suite alongside Experiences, Loyalty, Community and AI. Fantasy marks Monterosa's return to fantasy gaming, an area the company built its early reputation on, now deployed inside Monterosa / Interaction Cloud.

With Fantasy in the line-up, Monterosa now offers rights-holders a complete, integrated stack on a single platform and a single data model. That stack can be deployed across every fan surface, from mobile apps and websites to connected TV, big-screen graphics and streaming platforms, without stitching together multiple specialist providers or technologies.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is the launch partner, deploying Fantasy as part of The Hundred's connected fan engagement ecosystem. The Hundred Fantasy Game brings squad-building and live scoring to fans across The Hundred's digital products, alongside an always-on suite of gamified Experiences designed to keep casual fans active between matches.

A lightweight game, built for every fan

Monterosa Fantasy is built and managed entirely within Monterosa Studio, and runs in two formats: season-long games for committed fans, and short-form tournament games designed for a single competition or window. Both are lightweight to enter and quick to play. Fans build a squad, assign a captain, and compete across rounds, scored on live performance data from an integrated data feed. The platform handles global, fan group, private and sponsor-created leagues out of the box, with a leaderboard infrastructure built for tens of thousands of concurrent users.

Prizing, incentives and monetisation are built in rather than bolted on. Rights-holders can attach prizes and rewards to games and leagues, run sponsor-created competitions, and open commercial inventory across the season, all configured in Studio.

AI-powered personalisation

Within the Fantasy product, is an AI-powered personalisation feature. After every round settles, each fan receives a personalised, AI-generated performance summary. Unlike the leaderboard notifications offered by most fantasy products,

Monterosa Fantasy delivers a story: contextualised commentary on each fan's individual performance, built from their actual data and delivered in plain language. This gives casual participants a reason to return, and gives committed fans the depth of insight they expect. It is available as a feature of Monterosa Fantasy across any sport or competition.

Value from connection

Monterosa Fantasy earns its value from how it connects to everything else. Because Fantasy runs within the same platform as Experiences, Loyalty and Community, it shares data and drives actions across products in real time. A fan who has just completed a gameweek predictor can be prompted to act on their Fantasy squad based on how they predicted. A loyalty streak earned in a quiz carries into their fantasy engagement. A league leaderboard surfaces inside a community space.

Fantasy sits at the core of a continuous, connected fan journey that gets smarter the more a fan engages. Underpinning all of it is Monterosa Fan Intelligence, which turns every week of gameplay into a unified first-party data picture of fan behaviours. Rights-holders use that picture to personalise experiences and to build commercial opportunities, from sponsorship to data-driven activation, across the full season.

Configurable across any sport

The platform is sport-agnostic and configurable. Scoring rules, squad constraints, player roles and transfer windows are set per competition in Monterosa Studio, so the same product can be deployed across different sports, competitions and tiers.

The Hundred Fantasy Game launched on 10 July, alongside gamified Experiences in The Hundred's digital products. The architecture means the same game engine can be deployed across franchises, scaling fan engagement across the cricket landscape under a single technology footprint.

Monterosa Fantasy is available now to rights-holders, broadcasters and sports organisations across any sport or competition. It can be deployed as a standalone fantasy product, or as part of a broader stack that includes Experiences, Loyalty and Community, with organisations able to choose the combination that fits their current needs and expand over time. Fantasy is deployed as an embeddable web experience that runs natively within a client's existing digital products via the Monterosa SDK, requiring no separate build.

"We're delighted to welcome Monterosa as our new Fantasy Game and gamification supplier. The Hundred Fantasy Game has been a key part of the fan experience over the past four years, with our data showing it is the number one driver of engagement across The Hundred's digital products. Partnering with Monterosa has enabled us to take the game to the next level, introducing a refreshed experience and innovative new features that we think fans will love. We're excited by the opportunity to take The Hundred Fantasy Game to a global audience for the first time, helping more fans around the world connect with the competition and engage with the action in a new way."

David Payne, Head of Product & Data

"We are thrilled to be partnering with the ECB. Adding Fantasy to the Monterosa line-up means we now offer engagement, loyalty, community and fantasy in one place, built on a single data model and intelligence service. The ECB now runs the full engagement stack on one platform, where every week of gameplay creates a clearer view of fans, their behaviours and the partnership opportunities around them."
