A look back at what's changed since Monterosa first appeared on the Liverpool City Region Tech Climbers list.

When Monterosa first appeared on the Liverpool City Region Tech Climbers list in 2023, we were a focused tech business with a SaaS platform and a clear ambition: make fan engagement easier for the world's biggest sport and media brands. Four years later - and four years on the list - that ambition has scaled into something much bigger.

From a SaaS platform to a fantech partner

Today Monterosa / Interaction Cloud is a complete fantech stack - offering up centralised interactivity at scale that increases quality and results.

Monterosa is a central hub for management of rich, integrated digital fan experiences: all designed to attract attention and convert to valuable next actions.

  • Fan Experiences - a marketplace of voting, predictive games, fantasy, trivia, 3D visualisation, arcade games and more, with more use cases than any other platform on the market

  • Live Community - somewhere fans belong, argue, and show up

  • Loyalty Layer - milestones, challenges, rewards and recognition that turn casual fans into known, returning ones

  • Fan Intelligence - generating 300 million fan profiles and over a billion behaviour signals a year, with insights and reports surfaced automatically

  • Conversion Engine - including What Next?, our decision-making service that turns intention and context into upsell, subscription and revenue

  • AI & Automation - Mica content agents and orchestration

It's the difference between selling a tool and powering fandom. Four years ago, customers came to Monterosa for engaging, gamified Experiences. Today, they come for the whole stack.

From sport and media to civic fan engagement

Monterosa started as a partner to football and broadcast. In four years, the platform has expanded across sport to include football, cricket, baseball, rugby, motorsport and sailing - supporting leagues, federations, teams, broadcasters and sportsbooks across multiple continents.

But the most striking expansion of the last twelve months hasn't been into a new sport. It's been into a new kind of customer entirely.

This year, the San Jose Sports Authority partnered with Monterosa to launch what is believed to be the first city-wide digital engagement and loyalty programme of its kind in the US. Ahead of an unprecedented 2026 calendar - the city is using our platform to treat residents the way the best sports organisations treat their fans: as the core community, not an afterthought.

A dedicated app, Game On, serves as a central hub for quizzes, predictions, polls and trivia across every event of the year. The Loyalty Layer rewards participation. Challenges activate neighbourhoods, schools and community groups. Rather than treating 2026 as something that happens to San Jose, the programme is designed to make residents active participants in it.

It's a sign of how far the playbook can travel.

Powerful AI & Automation

Four years ago, AI was on the radar. Today, it sits across the platform. Mica content agents help customers create, schedule and publish fan engagement Experiences.

What Next? applies real-time intelligence to live moments and surfaces commercial opportunities our customers couldn't have unlocked a year ago, let alone four.

Earlier this year we launched Velocity, our AI Build Pipeline. It pairs AI-driven phasing - Strategy, Spec, Build & Test, Handoff, Launch - with human gates at every step, codifying a decade of platform experience into a system that delivers speed and quality.

In four years, AI has gone from "something we're watching" to an important part of the platform and how we work.

What four years on the list actually means

Lists are easy to celebrate and easy to forget. What's harder - and what we're proudest of - is the work behind the recognition. A platform that has grown into a complete fantech stack. A customer base that has expanded across football, cricket, baseball and rugby, and now reaches into civic engagement. A system processing hundreds of millions of fan profiles and over a billion behaviour signals every year.

Liverpool has been the constant - we're proud of our HQ, alongside our offices in London, Ghana and Poland. Four years of Tech Climbers for us is about what's possible when an ambitious tech company plants itself in a city that supports that ambition.

We're not done climbing.
