It will not be lost on anyone working in sport or gaming that community-made, vibe-coded games are having a moment. We're seeing weekly drops of new viral games, from stats-based puzzles to formats nobody had tried before, made by imaginative people using Claude Code, Codex and Gemini. AI has democratised game creation.
Take 20-0, the game where you draft an all-time NFL roster. Nick Baumeyer built it in a day using Claude and Moonshot AI's Kimi. It drew roughly 280,000 visitors and a million plays on its first day online, and around 2.2 million visitors and 30 million plays in its first ten weeks, as Sportico reported.
Meanwhile, game studios are stretching the boundaries of what is possible, particularly in the browser and in mobile apps, with AI tooling supporting the way they work.
Why we're doing this
Monterosa is the gamification and fan experience layer for some of the biggest names in sport, entertainment and media. As fans ourselves, we love these games, and we come up with new ideas every day too.
So from today, game studios and vibe coders can apply to become Monterosa partners. And our clients can bring their own game partners, studios, or even in-house ideas to the Monterosa platform.
What you get
When you build on Monterosa, you use the backend we already run and keep the front end to yourself: the game mechanics, the interface, the animation and the use of data. That is where the creative juices flow. Underneath, you get:
Security, with the answers kept on the server
Game engines that scale, and that are supported
Content management, so a game can be duplicated and run in multiple languages
Distribution to our clients
Support
Data management
Organisations with their own data sets can make those available too, in our store, for third-party developers to build on.
Gamestage
We've created a new agent and skill called Gamestage. Install it in any coding agent and it will help you migrate an existing game or build a new one, with full knowledge of how the platform works. What you end up with is a game that is ready to be approved.
Starting with Wave
The partner programme has launched with Wave, the Dutch game studio whose clients include PepsiCo and Heineken. Together we've already deployed games with two partner sports organisations. We're now opening the programme to other third parties, with a limited number of partner places available in 2026 and a wider rollout planned for 2027.
